Doris Marie Heydt

November 25, 1931 – August 11, 2022

Doris Marie Heydt was born on November 25, 1931, the last and seventh daughter of the late James A. and Beulah (Borger) Green in Little Gap, Pennsylvania.

Before her lung cancer, Doris was involved in the Venice Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir and Hand Bell Choir, the Literacy Council of Sarasota, the Encore Chorus of Venice Musicale, reading to nursing home residents, and lots and lots of embroidery. She graduated from Bethlehem Business College in 1951, was married to Mark Stanley Heydt of Palmerton, PA, and moved to New York state later that same year.

After raising four children she worked as a bank teller, receptionist, and trust department associate for 40+ years. She worked at many different banks in New York state and Florida, as they bought and sold themselves repeatedly!

Although she died of lung cancer that she had for 6 and 1/2 years, she continued her community involvement as long as she could, touching many lives along the way.

She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years who died in 1991 as well as six sisters, Mildred, Loise, Grace, Alverda, Lillian, and Kathryn; and a brother Delbert. Survivors include her four children: Margo Heydt; Pamela (Paul) Sherwood; Glenn (Debra) Heydt; and Todd Heydt as well as several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
